Nevada Division of Investigation Seeks
Public's Help in Identifying Homicide Victim
Few clues in murder case prompt investigators to ask for information from public
The Nevada Division of Investigation and the Pershing County Sheriff's Office is asking for help from the public in identifying the skeletal remains of an adult female found in the Limbo Mountain Range, 52 miles north of Fernley, north of the Winnemucca dry lake beds. Over the weekend, search and rescue teams from each jurisdiction combed the area for clues.
Investigators indicate the skeletal remains were found in a makeshift grave by a man hiking in the area. Due to the condition of the remains, the time of the murder is estimated to be between six months and a year ago. Additionally, investigators have determined that the woman had blond hair, which may be dyed and/or permed. The cause of death is not known.
The Nevada Division of Investigation is asking anyone with information to contact Investigator Martin Roberto or Investigator Teresa Gurr at 775-687-4408.
The Nevada Division of Investigation, a Division of the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety, assists local law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations.
